The present invention relates to a vehicle powertrain system monitoring method, which includes a step in which a first control unit in a vehicle receives data about the powertrain system of the vehicle as time passes and decides whether the data is out of a previously-set range; a step in which the data is stored in the first control unit when the data is out of the previously-set range and transmitted to a second control unit outside the vehicle; a step in which the inspection result of the vehicle and follow-up measures are identified either by the first control unit or the second control unit; and a step in which the identified inspection result and follow-up measures are transmitted to the powertrain system and a monitoring device using the same. The vehicle powertrain monitoring method according to the present invention is capable of receiving data about the internal status of a vehicle regarding the driving condition of the vehicle and storing the data externally, thereby more swiftly dealing with malfunction in driving or a possible accident.
