PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor for detecting a target analyte such as water vapor or oxygen in a gaseous sample, and a method of using the sensor.SOLUTION: In a sensor for detecting a target analyte in a gaseous sample at ultra-low concentrations, access openings provided through a sensor housing 20 are plugged with endcaps 40, 50, and spent gas (i.e., gaseous sample post detection) is channeled along an interface between the sensor housing and the endcaps prior to venting of the spent gas, for flushing any environmentally introduced target analyte from the interface. |
