The utility model relates to devices used in the art of atomic power engineering for handling fuel assemblies in a nuclear reactor. The technical result of the present utility model is a fuel handling machine having a simplified design and improved operating reliability as a result of the damping of loads on the mast which arise when the latter deviates from vertical due to dynamic force. The utility model further provides for the accurate vertical positioning of the mast during normal operation and the automatic return of the mast to a preset vertical position following the elimination of dynamic force. The proposed fuel handling machine for a nuclear reactor, which comprises a mast mounted on a trolley such that it can be brought into a vertical position and deviated from the vertical, is characterized in that the mast is attached to the trolley by means of a hinged support and return damping members provided with adjusting screws, by means of which the above-mentioned possibility of bringing the mast into a vertical position is realized. The return damping members are in the form of spring units, mounted at an angle to the axis of the mast, which are designed such that the precompression of the springs can be adjusted.
