PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor element which exhibits excellent poisoning resistance with respect to a poisoning object dissolved in a liquid and entering the gas sensor element, to maintain initial sensor performance.SOLUTION: A gas sensor element includes: a solid electrolyte; a measured gas chamber to which a measured gas is introduced; a reference gas chamber to which a reference gas, which is a reference for concentration of the measured gas, is introduced; a first electrode to be brought into contact with the solid electrolyte in the measured gas chamber; a second electrode to be brought into contact with the solid electrolyte to hold the solid electrolyte with the first electrode in the reference gas chamber; a diffusion layer arranged in contact with the solid electrolyte and leading the measured gas to the measured gas chamber; and a shield layer arranged in contact with the diffusion layer which is arranged between the shield layer and the solid electrolyte. At least one of the solid electrolyte and the shield layer includes a recess recessed from a side of an interface with the diffusion layer. |
