PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of reducing a time and labor during restarting communication even when communication is interrupted while image data is transferred.SOLUTION: A compound machine 100 is connected to a terminal device 200 through a communication line, receives image data transmitted from the terminal device 200, and forms an image on the basis of the image data. The compound machine 100 further detects a line state of the communication line to thereby detect whether the communication with the terminal device 200 is interrupted. When the communication is detected to be interrupted during receiving the image data transmitted from the terminal device 200, the compound machine 100 holds the state of being in the middle of receiving the image data.
