Provided are optically anisotropic particles and a method for producing the same, and a complex and a display device using the same. The particles (1) are used for dispersion into a matrix material (2), and the particles (1) comprise a plurality of particles for which the state of orientation of liquid crystal drops is fixed independently from one another. Such particles can be produced using a method provided with: a preparation step for preparing a polymerizable liquid crystal compound; a dispersion step for forming liquid crystal drops by dispersing the polymerizable liquid crystal compound into a dispersion medium at a temperature at or above the liquid crystal transition temperature; and a polymerization step for polymerizing the liquid crystal drops in the presence of a polymerization initiator at a temperature below the isotropic-phase transition temperature. |
