A choke (30) is provided. The choke (30) includes a trim (44) that includes, in one embodiment, a wedge-shaped member ("wedge") (50) and a cage (52) with an opening (82) for receiving the wedge (50). The wedge includes a first surface (64) and a second surface (66) that is angled with respect to the first surface. As the wedge is positioned into the opening of the cage, the space between the second surface and a third surface (90) inside the opening forms a throttling orifice (100) that restricts the flow of fluid. The size of the throttling orifice is variable depending on the position of the wedge relative to the cage. In another embodiment, the trim provides a positive shut-off point that is separate from the throttling area. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed. |
