PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink composition capable of forming a favorable solid image on a non-absorbent or low-absorbency medium.SOLUTION: The ink composition of the present invention is an ink composition for inkjet recording including water, a coloring material, a surfactant, and a compound I expressed by the following general formula (I), including virtually no alkylpolyols having standard boiling points of 280°C or higher, and used by targeting non-absorbent or low-absorbency recording media wherein the surfactant is at least one type selected from the group consisting of fluorinated surfactants and siloxane-based surfactants having 5 or more siloxane units: [Chemical 1] (in the general formula (I), n denotes an integer of 45 or above and 230 or below; the respective members of Rare independent of one another and denote non-modified, ether-modified, polyester-modified, epoxy-modified, amine-modified, carboxyl-modified, fluorine-modified, alkyloxy-modified, mercapto-modified, (meth)acryl-modified, phenol-modified, phenyl-modified, carbinol-modified, or aralkyl-modified hydrocarbon groups). |
