A packaging system comprising a powered assembly having a source of electrical power provided with a first set of electrical terminals mounted at a point of sale location S and a package containing an electrical device having a second set of electrical terminals, the second set of electrical terminals being in electrical connection with the electrical device in the package so that when the package in the correct orientation is placed on or within the powered assembly, electrical power is transferred through the electrical terminals from the power source to the electrical device to operate the device 10 in the package. The advantage of this arrangement is that the operation of the electrical device can be observed at the point of sale to assist in selection of the electrical device without having to remove the electrical device from the packaging. In some forms of the system, operation of the electrical device is limited by a timer controlling the duration of the supply of electrical power once commenced, to prevent is damage to the electrical device or packaging system. The advantage of the packaging system is a prospective customer is able to try before they buy without having to open the packaging to remove the device from the packaging for testing or operation. |
