RECOMBINANT CELLS AND PRODUCTION METHOD OF &bgr;-PHELLANDRENE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a set of techniques to obtain &bgr;-phellandrene in high purity and in a large amount.SOLUTION: There are provided recombinant cells capable of producing &bgr;-phellandrene which is produced by introducing at least one nucleic acid selected from the group consisting of a nucleic acid coding for geranyl diphosphate (GPP) synthase and a nucleic acid coding for neryl diphosphate (NPP) synthase, and a nucleic acid coding for &bgr;-phellandrene synthase into host cells, and the nucleic acids are expressed in the host cells. There is also provided a production method of &bgr;-phellandrene comprising culturing the recombinant cells thereby allowing the recombinant cells to produce &bgr;-phellandrene.
