PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon-based surface treatment agent for an optical material, which can modify surfaces of various members used for an optical material, particularly, surfaces of optical fine members having a microparticulate or highly refined structure to have hydrophobicity, fine dispersibility and dispersion stability.SOLUTION: The surface treatment agent for an optical material comprises the following organic silicon compound. The organic silicon compound has a functional group selected from a highly polar functional group, a hydroxyl group-containing group, a silicon atom-containing hydrolyzable group or metal salt derivatives thereof bonded to silicon atoms directly or via a functional group with a valency of (n+1 ) (n is a number equal to 1 or greater), and has at least one structure in the molecule in which the silicon atoms are bonded to any siloxane unit represented by RSiO, RSiO, RSiOand SiO. |
