A cell observation device (1) measures fluorescent light emitted from cells held using a microplate (20) in which a plurality of wells (21) for holding a cell-containing sample (S) are arranged. The cell observation device (1) is provided with: a microplate holder (11) upon which the microplate (20) is placed; an electrical stimulation unit (16) in which a plurality of electrode pairs (17) including a positive electrode (17b) and a negative electrode (17a) are arranged; a position controller (30) which controls the position of the electrical stimulation unit (16) such that the electrode pairs (17) are disposed in the wells (21); a dynamic-image acquisition unit (40) for detecting fluorescent light from the sample (S) in the wells (21); and a data analysis device (50) which uses an obtained light-intensity distribution to acquire analysis information related to the sample (S) by setting, as an analysis area, one portion of an area facing the positive electrodes (17b) above the wells (21), and analysing the light intensity of the analysis area. |
