PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means capable of accurately observing cell motion over the entire cell population even if the cell population has uneven thickness.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus 100 comprises: an image analysis section 130 which obtains time-series images obtained by capturing images of colony of cardiac muscle cells positioned within an observation field of view by different exposure doses from each other and analyzes the images; and an output section 140 which outputs the result of an analysis by the image analysis section 130. The image analysis section 130 comprises: a motion vector detecting section 131 which severally extracts an area having motion in the colony from the time-series images obtained at each of the different exposure doses; and an optimum exposure dose determining section 132 which determines an optimum exposure dose out of a plurality of exposure doses by using the area size of motion areas extracted at each of the different exposure doses as an indicator, and is configured so as to observe a pulsation motion of the colony under the optimum exposure dose. |
