PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image carrier unit capable of preventing a detection surface of a detection unit from being stained with a toner attached to an image carrying belt when an opposite roller is moved from a separation position to a contact position, and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: An intermediate transfer unit 2 includes an intermediate transfer belt 21, a detection unit 25, an opposite roller 26, a lever 31, a cam 33, and a control nit 200. The intermediate transfer belt 21 has the detection unit 25 arranged on an outer peripheral surface, and has the opposing roller 26, lever 31, and cam 33 arranged on an inner peripheral surface. The opposite roller 26 is arranged opposite to the detection unit 25 with the intermediate transfer belt 21 therebetween. The opposite roller 26 is configured to move freely along an arc-like trajectory between a separation position separating from the intermediate transfer belt 21 and a contact position contacting the intermediate transfer belt 21, in association with the movement in an X-axis direction of the lever 31. The lever 31 is configured to move freely in the X-axis direction in association with the rotation of the cam 33. The rotation of the cam 33 is controlled by the control unit 200. |
