<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purification of crudeβ-phenylethyl alcohol by which the extraction efficiency of an extraction solvent is improved.SOLUTION: There is provided a method of purification of crudeβ-phenylethyl alcohol, the method comprising the steps of: azeotropically distilling crudeβ-phenylethyl alcohol in which an entrainer is added to separate the alcohol into a fraction containing impurities contained in the crudeβ-phenylethyl alcohol and the entrainer and a fraction containingβ-phenylethyl alcohol; obtaining a fraction containing impurities, the entrainer and water by adding water to the fraction containing impurities and the entrainer; obtaining a fraction containing the entrainer and water by removing the impurities by using an extraction solvent from the fraction containing impurities, entrainer and the entrainer; separating the entrainer and water by distilling the fraction containing the entrainer and water; and reusing at least a part of the separated entrainer as an entrainer added in the azeotropic distillation step.</p> |
