<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheelchair with an automatic brake, having a simple, robust, inexpensive and safe automatic brake mechanism which can be easily post-fitted to a wheelchair not only during manufacturing but also in use.SOLUTION: A wheelchair with an automatic brake is attached with an automatic brake mechanism. The brake mechanism includes: one or two pairs of dogleg rotary brake rods each having a brake arm having a brake member at the lower end, and a rotary operation arm, and connecting the rotary operation arm directly or indirectly to a leaving and seating detection arm to convert the elevating operation of the leaving and seating detection arm into the rotary operation, on the rear side of the lower part of the wheelchair or on the front side and on the rear side thereof, respectively; and spring mechanisms for braking and releasing by the elevating operation of the leaving and seating detection arm, and the rotary operation of the rotary brake rods.</p> |
