METHOD OF PRODUCING CRYSTAL OF BETA-TYPE BARIUM BORATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing crystals of beta-type barium borate which enables growing crystals of beta-type barium borate with high uniformity in a high yield.SOLUTION: A method of producing crystals of beta-type barium borate comprises a step of: dissolving boron oxide (BO) in hot water of a temperature of 70°C or higher to prepare an aqueous solution; putting barium carbonate (BaCO) into the aqueous solution; stirring the aqueous solution for 1 hour or longer while keeping the temperature of the aqueous solution at 70°C or higher; and evaporating water of the aqueous solution. The synthetic procedures provide a single-phase raw material for high-purity crystals of beta-type barium borate free of impurities.
