<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cermet more excellent in defect resistance and abrasion resistance than conventional cermets and capable of prolonging life of cutting tools.SOLUTION: A cermet includes a first hard phase containing WC:30 to 65 vol.%, a second hard phase containing a titanium compound:25 to 45 vol.% and a binding phase mainly containing an iron group metal and their total is 100 vol.%, the second hard phase has a core structure consisting of a core part and a peripheral part having an average thickness of 0.1 to 3.0μm and surrounding the core, the core contains TiN, the peripheral part contains a composite carbide of Ti and at least one kind selected from Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo and W, and the carbon content contained in the entire cermet C(mass%), the tungsten content contained in the entire cermet C(mass%) and the nitrogen content contained in the entire cermet C(mass%) satisfy 5≤(C/(C-0.0653 C))≤70.</p> |
