PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for controlling the amount of light emitted by a backlight with high accuracy.SOLUTION: The light source device of the present invention comprises: a light source; detection means for detecting light from the light source; and control means for performing a control process for controlling the amount of light from the light source on a basis of a detection result provided by the detection means. A single lighting time of the light source is shorter than the time necessary for the detection means to detect light. During a control process, the control means extends the lighting time so that the lighting time gets longer than the time necessary for the detection means to detect light, reduces an electric current to be applied to the light source to prevent an increase in the amount of light due to the extension of the lighting time, and controls the amount of light from the light source on a basis of the detection result obtained under the conditions that the light time is extended and the current value is reduced. |
