PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to extend the service life of a photoreceptor drum, while maintaining maximum productivity without reducing rotation speed during normal printing.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: speed changing means for changing a rotation speed of an image holding body with a toner image formed thereon between a plurality of stages; an image output control part which decides the rotation speed of the image holding body on the basis of an attribute of a sheet to be used for printing of a print job; an image processing part which prepares image forming data according to a print processing request; receiving means for receiving information showing that the image forming data has been prepared from the image processing part; a timer control part for measuring the waiting time until the preparation information; and a rotation speed control part which controls rotation speed of the image holding body on the basis of the waiting time measured in the timer control part. The timer control part starts measuring the waiting time from a preset time point when transfer preparation information is received, and the rotation speed control part changes the rotation speed of the image holding body from a current rotation speed to a lower rotation speed when the waiting time reaches a preset time. |
