<p>A sludge collection system comprising a tank (10) having a bottom (12) and two opposing walls (14a, 14b), a scraper flight (20) is adapted to be moved along the bottom of the tank and two flight chains (22a, 22b), to which the scraper flight is attached, a plurality of sprockets (24, 26), on which the flight chains are provided, and wherein at least one sprocket is a driven sprocket (26) driven by a motor. By arranging so that the driven sprocket is directly rotated by a hydraulic motor, a simple mechanical layout is provided, wherein costs and size are reduced and operation interruptions are minimized. In a second embodiment, two driven sprockets are provided, one on each of the two opposing walls and each being directly rotated by a respective motor of two motors. Any misalignment of the scraper flights can thereby be compensated.</p> |
