Disclosed is an optical-fiber attenuation-compensation method, which comprises: a first network element sending a first request message to a downstream adjacent network element of the first network element, the first request message at least comprising output power of a first optical amplifier, a maximum adjustment amount of a first optical-adjustable attenuator and a non-compensation amount of the first network element, the first network element at least comprising the first optical amplifier and the first optical-adjustable attenuator, and an output port of the first optical amplifier being connected to an input port of the first optical-adjustable attenuator; the first network element receiving a response message comprising an adjustment amount of the first optical-adjustable attenuator, and saving the adjustment amount of the first optical-adjustable attenuator. The adjustment amount of the first optical-adjustable attenuator is determined by the downstream adjacent network element of the first network element based on the output power of the first optical amplifier, the maximum adjustment amount of the first optical-adjustable attenuator and the non-compensation amount of the first network element. Further disclosed are an optical-fiber attenuation-compensation system and a network element.
