AUTO-SHIFT REVERSING MECHANISM Abstract A device that automatically actuates the reversing lever (110) of a ratchet mechanism (105) when the radial direction of the motor is changed. The auto-shift mechanism (115) includes a worm gear (125) that rotates with the motor, and a disc (130) coupled to the worm gear (125) that moves laterally as the worm gear (125) rotates. Axial movement of the disc (130) actuates a reversing lever (110) of a ratchet mechanism (105) by either pulling or pushing the reversing lever (110). A lost-motion mechanism (150) can absorb an initial amount of torque so that the auto-shift mechanism (115) can run its course prior to applying the torque to a fastener. LOr |
