PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing the occurrence of white spots while providing sufficient image density respectively in concave parts and convex parts on the surface of a recording material, so as to provide good images.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus, when transferring a toner image on an image carrier to a recording medium, alternately switches a voltage in a transfer direction for transferring the toner image from the image carrier side to the recording material side and a voltage having polarity reverse to that of the voltage in a transfer direction; sets the time average value of the voltage (Vave) to the polarity in a transfer direction for transferring the toner image from the image carrier side to the recording material side, and closer to the transfer direction than the central value of the maximum value and the minimum value of the voltage (Voff); and reduces the (Duty) represented by A/(A+B) when the area on a return direction with respect to the central value (Voff) is A, and the area on the transfer direction side with respect to the central value (Voff) is B, each accounted for in one cycle of a voltage waveform, as concave and convex of the recording material to be used is larger. |
