PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 3,3'-dinitro-4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl ether from 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl ether with productivity which is high to such a degree that the method can be applied as an industrial production method.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for nitrating 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl ether with nitric acid in an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent. The aromatic hydrocarbon solvent preferably is one or two selected from the group consisting of benzene, toluene, xylene and ethylbenzene. |
