PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer enabling reduction in residual ink that remains within an ink pack while suppressing shortening of a service life of a pressure pump.SOLUTION: An ink jet printer 1 has: a flexible ink pack 10 including ink; and an ink supply mechanism 5 pressurizing the ink pack 10 to supply the ink to a side of an ink flow passage 4. The ink supply mechanism 5 includes: a pressure pump 15; an ink residual amount monitoring section for monitoring whether or not ink residual amount of the ink pack 10 has reached a threshold value; a first pressurization control section 56 for driving the pressure pump 15 so that the pressurization amount reaches preset first set pressurization amount P1 when the fact that the ink residual amount has reached the threshold value is not detected; and a second pressurization control section 57 for driving the pressure pump 15 so that the pressurization amount reaches second set pressurization amount P2 larger than the first set pressurization amount P1 when the fact that the ink residual amount has reached the threshold value is detected. |
