[Problem] To provide an abnormality detecting system and abnormality detecting method capable of detecting, at an early stage, abnormalities occurring at facilities such as chemical plants, oil refineries, and fossil-fuel power plants. [Solution] An abnormality detecting system has an optical fiber (24), a Raman scattered light detector (20), and a data processing unit (30). The Raman scattered light detector (20) detects Stokes light and anti-Stokes light generated in the optical fiber (24), and outputs data for the Stokes light intensity distribution and for the anti-Stokes light intensity distribution in the lengthwise direction of the optical fiber (24). The data processing unit (30) calculates, for each position in the lengthwise direction of the optical fiber (24), the product of a value obtained by applying a Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter to the Stokes light intensity distribution in the lengthwise direction of the optical fiber (24) and a value obtained by applying a FIR filter to the anti-Stokes light intensity distribution in the lengthwise direction of the optical fiber (24), and uses the result to determine the presence of an abnormality. |
