PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hub unit bearing and a method of transporting the hub unit bearing which enable leakage of grease from the hub unit bearing to be easily and surely prevented.SOLUTION: A space S surrounded by a grease lip 12b, a main lip 12e and a slinger 10, has such a dimension that the occurrence of capillary phenomenon is prevented in order to prevent intrusion of grease near a sealing device 6 into the space S from a clearance gap between the grease lip 12b and the slinger 10 caused by the capillary phenomenon, and a plurality of cut portions 15 communicating the space S with the inside of a bearing are formed in the grease lip 12b at prescribed intervals in the circumferential direction. Consequently, the grease does not intrude into the space S from the clearance gap caused by the capillary phenomenon, further passing of a base oil of the grease through the clearance gap from the inside of the bearing toward the space S can be suppressed, and the base oil of the grease passing through the clearance gap can be returned to the inside of the bearing through the clearance gap, so that the leakage of the grease can be easily and surely prevented. |
