PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce first print time in performing image formation in a single color by using any one of a plurality of photoreceptors.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes an optical sensor 13 that detects light emitted from a laser 7C and reflected on a polygon mirror 9, and a control unit 50 that executes adjustment operation for adjusting the speed of the polygon mirror 9 on the basis of the output of the optical sensor 13. The laser 7C emits light during the execution of the adjustment operation by the control unit 50, in a period including at least a period when the photoreceptor drum 1C is irradiated with light; and the control unit 50, when monochrome printing is performed, performs the adjustment operation before execution of printing operation, and starts operation to move a developing roller 3K to a development position before the completion of the adjustment operation. |
