The invention relates to the oil producing industry, and more particularly to submersible equipment for the extraction of oil with a high gas content. The valve for releasing gas from a submersible pump comprises a housing (1), a gate member in the form of a ball (10), a hollow rod (8) which is rigidly fixed inside the housing (1) and which has a seat (11) at the top and radial through channels (12) below the seat, a means for limiting upwards movement of the ball (10), and a hollow spring-loaded movable piston (2), which is disposed on the outer surface of the hollow rod (8) and is able to close and open the radial channels (3) of said hollow rod (8). The hollow rod (8) is fixed with the aid of a coupling (6) provided with axial openings (7). The means for limiting movement of the ball is a cover (9) with shoulders, and the hollow piston (2) has radial openings (3) in the bottom part thereof. The invention facilitates start-up of a submersible pump following an emergency shutdown, thus reducing annual maintenance and repair costs, and makes it possible to perform pressure testing of the tubing.
