PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of suppressing the generation of particulates without failure such that intake stroke is completed while fuel injected in a combustion chamber is not sufficiently vaporized.SOLUTION: An injector for cylinder injection of fuel is operated intermittently in a period of intake stroke when air is sucked into a combustion chamber by lowering of a piston. A fuel injection quantity for each operation of the injector for cylinder injection of fuel is increased when a position of the piston is in the center more than when the position is on the end side. |
