LIQUID-CRYSTAL COMPOUND, LIQUID-CRYSTALLINE MEDIUM AND OPTICAL ELEMENT

A liquid-crystal composition exhibiting an optically isotropic liquid crystal phase, and containing a chiral agent and an achiral component (T) which contains one or more types of a compound (1) having: a dioxane ring which is unsubstituted or substituted with a methyl group; and at least one -COO- or -CF2O- linking group. This liquid-crystal composition is useful as a liquid-crystalline medium which exhibits stability toward heat and light, has a wide liquid-crystal-phase temperature range, has extremely large dielectric anisotropy, and achieves an optically isotropic liquid crystal phase.
