A sliding clasp fastener of the type in which each series of coupling elements is made from a single filament has an end stop comprising a pin 5, 6 or 6<SP>1</SP> wholly or partly located in the longitudinal channel formed by several of the coupling members 1 at one end of one or both series of coupling members, the thickness of the pin 5, 6 or 6<SP>1</SP> being such that it is held in place by the frictional forces between the pin and the coupling members. As shown the fastener is of the meander type, and has top stops formed by inserting pins 6, 6<SP>1</SP> in the longitudinal channels between the interlocking portions 2, 2<SP>1</SP> respectively of several coupling members and the edge of the tape 3 on which they are mounted. The bottom stop is formed by inserting a pin 5 in the common longitudinal channel formed between the interlocked portions of several coupling members in both series. The pins 5, 6, 6<SP>1</SP> may be of metal or resilient plastics material and their securement may be improved by knurling or threading them or by securing them with adhesive. In a modification the pins are of L or U shape and are further secured by sewing to the tape 3 or by being provided with a head. The end stops shown may also be used on fasteners of the helical coil type.</p> |
