1,049,077. Coating apparatus. COMPAGNIE DU FILAGE DES METAUX ET DES JOINTS CURTY (CEFILAC). March 26, 1964 [March 29, 1963], No. 12959/64. Heading B2B. Hot billets 15 are coated with a lubricating powder while supported on a conveyer 1, the conveyer being adapted to form a deep pocket 11 at one location of its run to hold and rotate the billet while powder is dispensed on it by a dispenser 13. Formation of the pocket may be achieved by diffe - rentially varying the speeds of two of the rollers 2, 4 supporting the chain conveyer so that slack in the chain is accumulated at the given point beneath the dispenser. Alternatively guide rollers or rails (Figs. 3, 4 not shown) which bear laterally upon the conveyer or on supporting wheels thereof may be used to depress the chain into the form of a pocket. Removal of the billet from the pocket may be achieved by straightening the conveyer again, as shown at 12, the billet then being conveyed forwardly to a suitable receptacle 14 in preparation for further operations such as extrusion or piercing. Alternatively the roller at the outlet side of the pocked may be lowered allowing the billet to move out of the pocket (Fig. 2 not shown) or the billet may be ejected in a direction transverse to the run of the conveyer by a push-rod device (Fig. 4 not shown).
|
