A design in relief is moulded on to a thermoplastic substrate 24 by injecting the same or a compatible molten thermoplastic resin into a mould cavity 12, defined between projecting lands 14 on a mould plate 10 and the substrate 24. Minute grooves 18 are provided in the faces of the lands 14, to permit the escape of air as the material is injected through a passage 16. The lands 14 may alternatively be provided on the substrate or on both mould and substrate. Examples are given of suitable injection temperatures and pressures and of suitable thermoplastic resins. |
