摘要 Described is an opto electronic system able to detect and reproduce the movements of the fingers of the hand by processing the signals in real time using sensors manufactured with fiber optic by the long period fiber grating technique (LPFG) using an electric arc splicer of fiber optic. The system comprises a wide spectrum source with a spectral width of approximately 300 nm. The wide spectrum light source is connected to a system of three couplers 50/50 for obtaining four outlets connected to four sensors of the fingers movements. The sensor has a length lower than 2 cm. Each end portion of the sensing fibers is coupled to the wide spectrum photo-detectors. The photo-detectors perform the conversion of the light energy transmitted into an electric current proportional to the intensity of the captured light. After the light-current conversion is performed, the signal would be conditioned by a circuit specially designed for the application; the difference of voltage produced by the con ditioning is captured by the high-speed acquisition card, which is connected to a processing CPU in real time. This unit is useful for performing the processes required for filtrating, processing and generating the signals required for producing the detected movements.
