The method involves controlling high voltage by comparison of a measured actual value of the high voltage with a predetermined reference value. A noise compensation is made by intrusion of a replication of trouble caused by rectification of net-alternating voltage supplied to an X-ray generator (1). Frequency changes of the net-alternating voltage are determined and accounted with the noise compensation. The replication is carried out based on an estimation or modeling of the rectified net-alternating voltage. An independent claim is also included for an X-ray generator for generating X-ray tube voltage.
