Method for gas detection and corresponding gas sensor device

The method involves measuring data corresponding to different sensor temperatures of a semiconductor gas sensor (12) in a predetermined temperature range. The data recorded by a temperature-dependent normalization parameter is normalized. The normalized data is compared with the measured data of the semiconductor gas sensor. An oxidizable and/or reducible gas of known concentration, and gas or gas mixture at the atmosphere is detected as a reference gas based on the comparison results. An independent claim is included for a gas sensor device.
