The method involves connecting a first switch (S1) with a reference capacitor and a reference voltage source (5). A second switch (S2) is connected with a sensing electrode (1) and a reference capacitor. A third switch (S3) is connected with the sensing electrode. A reference capacitor (4) is loaded on the reference voltage source by opening the second switch and closing the first switch. The first switch and the third switch are opened to maintain manufacture state of suspension of a load. Resulting voltage URES is compared with deposited threshold values. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for capacitive seat occupancy recognition.
