Provided is a composition comprising a retinoid derivative as an active ingredient for preventing or treating ultraviolet-induced skin damage. The retinoid derivative of the present invention significantly increases proliferation rate of fibroblasts of UV-exposed dermis and karatinocytes of epidermis; thereby can be used as a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating UV-induced skin damage or a cosmetic composition for alleviating UV-induced skin damage.
