In an endless conveyer type of casting- machine the moulds are carried on the ends of cantilever arms whose other ends are attached to an endless power-driven conveyer accommodated in a casing. The cantilever aims 2 carrying the moulds 1 are attached by brackets 14, 14a to the motor-driven chains 15, 15a and project through the side of the casing 4 which protects the chains from metal splashes. After pouring the moulds are cooled in a cooling tunnel 34 by water sprays from pipe 35, fumes being drawn off by an extractor 37. In a modification each mould has a coolant jacket connected to an endless flexible manifold connected to a coolant supply through a flexible pipe wound round a spring-loaded reel. The jackets discharge through the hallow cantilever arms. The second. Provisional Specification refers to the cantilever arms projecting from both sides of the casing and each carrying a mould at each end. |
