The invention relates to a wood treating and preserving composition and to a process for preparing the same. According to the invention, the composition comprises 0...15% 4,5-dichloro-2-octyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one, 0...15% 3-iodine-2-propinylbutyl carbamate, 30...50% xylene as a non-polar organic solvent, 15...25% C10-C16 fatty alcohols ethoxylated with 2...7 ethoxy groups and 15...35% a solvent or a mixture of polar organic solvents, the percentage being expressed by weight. The process claimed by the invention consists in mixing two phases, A and C or B and C, obtained as follows: phase A - mixing the xylenes in a vessel provided with a heating-cooling jacket, stirring and xylene discharge with 99% 4,5-dichloro-2-octyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one or as a 30% xylene solution; phase B - mixing, in the same type of vessel, the xylenes with 99% 4,5-dichloro-2-octyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one melted at 50°C or as a 30% xylene solution and/or 3-iodine-2-propinylbutyl carbamate, while stirring until dissolving; and phase C - heating the fatty alcohols to 30°C and dissolving in polar organic solvent, so that phase C is contacted with phase A or B and they are mixed up to homogenization to obtain a clear solution with antifungal effect. |
