The invention relates to a method for the detection and classification of microcalcification groups in digital mammographies, comprising the following steps consisting in: obtaining one or more digital mammographies; pre-processing the digital mammography or mammographies by eliminating noise from each; detecting the points that are potential microcalcifications in the digital mammography or mammographies; identifying each centre of mass of potential microcalcifications, either as microcalcifications or non-microcalcifications; identifying groups of microcalcifications using an algorithm in order to locate groups of microcalcifications; and classifying each group in the benign or malignant classes.
