The invention relates to a method for transcoding content referenced by a first content server (DMS1, DMS2) connected to a network, including: a step of a transcoding system (ADMS) transmitting a notification message indicating the presence, in said network, of a device for substituting for said first content server (DSS) and forming a content server; a step of receiving, from a transmitting entity, a request to query said substitution device (DSS) regarding said content; a step of transferring the query request to said first content server; a step of obtaining a response from said first content server, including first metadata relating to at least one first encoding format in which said content is likely to be obtained from said first content server; a step of sending a response to the transmitting entity, including second metadata relating to at least one second encoding format in which said content is likely to be obtained from said transcoding system. |
