Liquids which have a limited solubility in water at room temperature are purified by means of aqueous conventional ion-exchange resins having cross linkages by supersaturating the liquid with water or dilute alkalies before they are allowed to enter the exchanger bed. Chlorinated hydrocarbons such as perchloroethylene and trichloroethylene are intermittently mixed with up to 200% of their volume of water to saturate before treatment.ALSO:Liquids which have a limited solubility in water at room temperature, e.g. chlorinated hydrocarbons, are purified by means of aqueous conventional ion-exchange resins having cross linkages by supersaturating the liquid with water or dilute alkalies before they are allowed to enter the exchanger bed.
