Ceramic dewatering element comprises a ceramic carrier and a support for the ceramic carrier. The dewatering element is formed in one piece. An independent claim is also included for manufacturing the ceramic dewatering element, comprising (i) providing at least one elongated preform made of a carbon composite material, which forms a bounded chamber, (b) connecting at least two preforms (when at least two elongated preforms are used) through at least one connecting surface to form a composite, in which a connecting mass comprising silicon carbide and at least one polymer adhesive, is provided between the connecting surfaces of the preforms and then cured, and (c) siliconizing the preform and/or the composite to obtain the dewatering element.
