The panel (1) has a synchronization module (14) accessing configuration data stored in a configuration data memory (13, 13', 13'') and synchronizing the configuration data via a communications interface (11) with configuration data stored in a configuration data memory of a remotely arranged operator panel. A configuration access module (15) receives a read request for the configuration data from multiple applications (121, 122) of the panel, accesses the configuration data, reads the configuration data corresponding to the request and delivers the read data to configure the applications. The communications interface is selected from a group consisting of Ethernet communications interface, wireless local area network (WLAN) communications interface, a Bluetooth communications interface.
