Sensor component and method for monitoring the function of same

The method involves generating a test signal i.e. square wave signal, and supplying the test signal to a place in a sensor, where the test signal reaches an output terminal (9) from the place in the sensor in an unchanged form. The output signal is compared with the test signal. A diagnosis signal is generated to indicate whether the test signal is contained in the output signal. The test signal is filtered out of the output signal and a remaining signal is applied as a measurement signal i.e. analog signal, at a measurement signal output (17) of a sensor module (1). An independent claim is also included for a sensor module comprising a sensor i.e. magnetic field sensor.
