Process for the treatment of cellulose textile materials with hardenable resin precondensation products and brightening agents

The brightening agent having the formula: is prepared by reacting 4-nitro-41-amino stilbene-2,21-disulphonic acid with a pre-reacted mixture of cyanuric chloride and methanol and with diethanolamine, followed by reduction with iron and acetic acid to produce the intermediate product 2-methoxy-4-diethanolamino-1, 3, 5-triazinyl-6-(4, 41-diamino stilbene-2, 21-disulphonic acid), which is further reacted with a pre-reacted mixture of cyanuric chloride and methanol and with taurine. Alternatively the brightening agent may be prepared by reacting 4, 41-diamino stilbene-2, 21-disulphonic acid with a pre-reacted mixture of cyanuric chloride and methanol and then further reacting the product with diethanolamine and taurine. The brightening agent having the formula: may be similarly prepared by using, instead of taurine and diethanolamine, methyl taurine and monoethanolamine.ALSO:Cellulosic textile materials, e.g. cotton, are crease proofed and brightened by treating them in a single bath simultaneously with hardenable resin precondensation products, e.g. dimethylol urea, dimethylol ethylene urea, dimethylol-dihydroxy ethylene urea, tetramethylol acetylene diurea and hexamethylolmelamine and their alkyl ethers, and bis-triazinyl-amine stilbene compounds of the formula in which R1 and R2 are 1-6 C atom alkyl radicals, R3 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl radical, X is an amino group which may be substituted by aliphatic or cycloaliphatic radicals and Y is a hydrogen atom or salt forming cation, and then heating the textile materials to harden the resin precondensation products. Suitable amines giving rise to the radical X are ammonia, monomethylamine, dimethylamine, monoethanolamine, N-methyl-monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, monoisopropanolamine, morphidine, piperidine and piperazine.
