966,038. Paper making machines. DOMINION ENGINEERING WORKS Ltd. Nov. 16, 1961 [Dec. 5. 1960], No. 41146/61. Heading D2A In a paper making machine stock passes into the headbox 11 from two sources 10, 10a, the stock passing from ducts 14, 15 to a common duct 16 via an aperture formed by a pair of opposed, flexible, adjustable plates 1 preferably of stainless steel. The plates are mounted on a plurality of threaded rods 3 rotatable by wheels 4 so that they may be positively displaced in either direction to give the required separation along their length. The separation of the plates may be varied along their length e.g. so that irregularities in the formed paper can be corrected while the machine is running. Channels into which water is pumped at high pressure are provided between the plates 1, and their holders 2 to prevent them becoming clogged.
|
